Spacecom Policy & The Path Forward for Commercial Space Collaboration | 17th March 2021
Mr. Abhishek Malhotra, Managing Partner, TMT Law Practice was a speaker at a webinar organised by the US-India Business Council (USIBC) on the topic Spacecom Policy & The Path Forward for Commercial Space Collaboration: Summary: In cooperation with Space and Satellite Professionals International, USIBC hosted an expert roundtable to promote commercial space, satcom and the geospatial segments. One panel discussed the potential of geospatial applications, but emphasised that India’s recent policy limits foreign participation, and via its localization requirement, may inhibit a segment that increasingly integrates global data sets, hosts information on the cloud, and utilizes distributed networks to support an international client base. The commercial space panel offered insight into how commercial space supports the U.S human space flight and other programs, providing some lessons learned. The group also discussed TRAI’s new narrowband satellite IOT consultation. This event is the first in a series leading up to the next U.S. India Civil Space Joint Working Group.
